In the surrounding area ther are plenty of places worth a visit. Here are a few:

Cabo de Palos:
Small village by the sea with harbour and an old lighthouse.

Lo Pagán:
Spa and salt industry.

El Mojón:
Small village with a sandy beach by the sea.

Just south of the village we have a nature reserve with walks and tower for bird watchers.
More nature reserves can be found south of the lagoon.
